Drive-In Theatres

Question:

Is opening of Drive-In movie theatres permitted?

Answer:

Thank you for your inquiry regarding opening your drive-in for movie nights, live music concerts, worship services and graduation for the local high school.

Under New Brunswick’s second phase of recovery (orange phase), businesses can decide to open if they determine that they can operate safely. There remain some sectors named in paragraph 2 of the Mandatory Order which are prohibited from opening as they involve close personal contact.

Drive-in theatres can open if the business owner/operator is confident they can operate safely, including things such as ensuring physical distancing and preventing gatherings among customers, that staff maintain physical distancing or wear masks, that customers remain in their cars, the safe collection of admission fees, etc.

All businesses are also required to establish a COVID-19 Operational Plan that addresses, but is not limited to, physical distancing, cleaning and disinfecting, hand and respiratory hygiene, and pre-screening for symptoms. Every organization is responsible for ensuring that they have a plan in place outlining how they will manage their operations safely.
